Anagram architects designs a residence, inhabiting a three generation joint family, with a carved out atrium. Since, the brief included an open, light filled home that could accommodate the family together, Anagram has designed the house like a monolith to maintain privacy in the front while creating a naturally ventilated social central courtyard inside. The atrium moreover looks like a carved out spaces from a larger stone monolith. While the angular volume gives a hint of a huge crack the stone covered south façade actually protects the house from harsh south sun and thus it is being called ‘Cleft house’.
