Lucy Hughes, a University of Sussex graduate has used fish waste to create MarinaTex, a compostable single use plastic. The design has apparently won the UK James Dyson Award for 2019. Actually made from Fish Scales and Skin, which otherwise would be buried in a landfill, Marina Tex is a translucent and flexible material. Most preferably it can be used for single use packaging and will itself break down in home composts or food waste bins withing six to four weeks.
