The Modernist US embassy, New Delhi, designed by Edward Durell Stone in 1959, gets its updated plan from the New York architect, Weiss Manfredi, as part of a major overhaul of the complex.
Weiss Manfredi intends to transform the complex into a “multi-functional campusâ€. The overhaul will involve the renovation of these existing buildings, including the Chancery Building a structure detailed with white-latticed walls, a flat roof, slender golden pilotis, and a large courtyard at the center.
