A smart material capable of warming up a person when they’re cold and cooling them down when they’re hot has been invented by the scientists at the University of Maryland, USA.

Regular polymer fibers coated with carbon nanotubes, which makes them responsive to body heat, is been used to make the textile. The yarn contracts in warm and humid weather, due to sweat: this enables the fabric to pass infrared radiation coming off from the body. When it’s cool and dry, the yarn expands, trapping that same heat.
