Tom Williams and Billie Tsien, the American architects have been named as the Japanese Art Association’s 2019 Praemium Imperiale awards. Celebrating the work of architects with ‘major international impact’ in art, architecture, sculpture, music, paintings and theatre and film; Williams and Tsien are the 31st recipients of the annual award. The couple who started working together in 1977, founded their practise in 1986 in New York. Neurosciences Institute in California, The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, and the Lefrak Centre in Brooklyn are some of the best known works of the duo.
