Suppose Design Office reinterprets the Japanese traditional elements

For the new design of the tech company Slack, Local architecture firm Suppose Design Office has reimagined traditional elements of Japanese architecture. The office periphery which overlooks the city’s Imperial Palace Gardens has been done in black in ceiling and flooring to make it look like an ‘Engawa’- a wooden ledge that usually runs around the traditional buildings in Japan. This space turns out to be a transitional element from inside to outside and transforms itself for casual communication. Other than this the light coloured timber and a few traditional Japanese landscape elements are a part of the interiors of the office.
