Italian designer Kartell has announced a new version of its immensely popular Componibilli storage unit made of biodegradable plastic derived from agricultural waste. The material is made of natural polyesters that are produced when farm waste is fermented by bacteria, fully biodegradable in soil or in water, and resistant to breakdown by heat or moisture. While the company is yet to announce the date when the products will be hitting the shelves, the Componibili is a hint towards more bio-focused projects to come.
