New York City-based designer Joe Doucet thinks we can do better and has created a helmet with a secondary purpose: to prevent crashes from happening in the first place. With its retro styling, this 3/4 brain bucket has a style in spades, integrated into the design is a light bar that wraps around the bottom back that acts as an LED indicator. And that light bar works in conjunction with a built-in accelerometer — turning the light bright red when you start to slow down and back to white light when you resume acceleration.
Joe Doucet’s Sotera motorcycle helmet uses coloured lights to prevent accidents.
