Irthi Crafts Council strives to revive Emirati crafts

In a quest to empower the Bedouin craftswomen of the United Arab Emirates, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council has initiated a collaboration of international artists with them in order to globalize the craft items. Coordinating from its base, Sharjah Irthi oversaw the creation of the first collection comprising of 12 international designers resulting into 12 different product lines. The scheme has resulted into a variety of contemporary products who take birth from ancient Emirati techniques like Safeefah (weaving technique).
