The much awaited Beijing Daxing International Airport by Zaha Hadid Architects has opened this week while successfully becoming the largest terminals in the world. The five-pointed star shaped airport is designed by late Zaha Hadid and current studio principle Patrik Schumacher has been specifically planned as compact as possible. The starfish form of the terminal thus give rise to five aircraft piers radiating outwards from a central courtyard. Referred to as the ‘central orientation space dome’ the natural lit central courtyard with a glass roof.
