Situated in Santiage, Chile the Baha’i Temple of South America, designed by Hariri Pontarini has won the 2019 RAIC International Prize. Curated by Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the RAIC International Prize is awarded every two years to an architect or team of architects based anywhere in the world. The award aims at recognising a work of architecture that is proven to be transformative in its social context, and expresses humanistic values. The nine-wing Baha’i Temple forming an oculus at the top, has attracted about 1.4 million visitors since its opening in 2016.
