Established in 1977, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture is an initiative to honour ideas that continue to serve humanity and fulfil the aspiration of people in Islamic societies. The six winners this year will share a winning amount of US $1million. ‘Revitalisation of Muharraq, Bahrain’, ‘Arcadia Education Project, Bangladesh’, ‘Palestinian Museum, Palestine’, ‘Public Spaces Development Programme, in Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan’, ‘Alioune Diop University Teaching and research Unit in Senegal’, ‘Wasit Wetland Centre in Sharjah’, won the award for this year.
