Chinese architect rejuvenates old houses in Beijing

Arch Studio, a Chinese practice rebuilt a group neglected old houses in the capital initially made from brick and concrete. Now divide into five blocks, constructed from recycling the old bricks is now being called ‘Folding Courtyard’ due to its unique folding circulation system which joins the units together by reimagining the flat roofs as walkways. Hence revived rooftop can now be effectively used as a space for work or events.
