A museum dedicated to the iconic design school designed by Walter Gropius, has been opened in the German town of Dessau, the former location of the school itself. The two segments of the museum are capable of holding temporary exhibitions in its open planned ground floor and a floating ‘Black Box’ inhabiting the gallery spaces for more delicate items. While the main idea was to create flexible spaces in order to host innumerable exhibitions and workshops, the 100-meter-long concrete tube was used to construct the ‘Black Box’ to provide optimal conditions to preserve the collection from natural light.
